Khir: It's a desperate bid

Dr Khir said Azmin's appointment was a desperate move by Anwar to appease internal critics unhappy with the way Khalid managed the state.
He said Azmin could not do anything without going through Khalid first.
Selangor PKR assemblymen supported Azmin's appointment, describing the leadership trio as a potent weapon.
Selangor Wanita PKR chief Haniza Mohamed Talha said running the state was not a one-man show.
Each had his own strengths and they would complement one another, she said.
Seri Muda assemblyman Suhaimi Shafie said Azmin's appointment would make it difficult for Barisan Nasional to take over the state in the next general election.
Shah Alam Pas commissioner Khalid Abdul Samad said Azmin's appointment was a good arrangement.
"PKR is a new party. There is a lot of pressure and also attacks, with members jumping ship, unlike Pas which is already stable.
"Therefore, it needs someone to concentrate solely on party matters and another to oversee the state administration. This is a good arrangement."
Khalid said Pas had long agreed that Selangor was to be taken care of by PKR and that PKR had never stopped Pas from developing its strengths in the state.
"We have two states to take care of and we do not need too much on our plate."
