THE Selangor Government will investigate why the general manager of Yayasan Selangor, Ilham Marzuki, owns two vehicles.

Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said he was puzzled over the purchase of two vehicles, Toyota Camry and Toyota Fortuner, for use by one officer.

He said it was all right that a new car be provided as replacement of an older one.

"I was made to understand the car was for official use and the SUV was to be used by the officer in his capacity as general manager,'' he said.

He was responding to a question from Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei (PR-Sri Muda) who had questioned the state's stand over the purchase of the vehicles.

Shuhaimi said he felt that the purchase of the vehicles had not reflected well on the Pakatan Rakyat-led state government.

Shuhaimi also expressed his dissatisfaction over the foundation's move to organise a dinner costing RM340,000 to mark the demolition of the Yayasan Selangor's building in Petaling Jaya.

He said it was unusual that an expensive dinner of this nature was held to mark the demolition of a building.

Khalid said he agreed that the move was not a good idea and felt that the use of event management had not helped the situation.

He urged state government agencies against hiring the service of event management companies to organise functions.
