THE Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) recently hosted a dinner by the Kota Kemuning Lake in Section 31, Shah Alam, called “Majlis Jamuan Makan Malam JasaMu Dikenang” for its councillors.
The dinner was held to show appreciation to the outgoing councillors in the 2009/2010 term, and welcome those for the 2010/2011 session.
Seven new councillors were appointed by the Selangor government to serve a year-and-a-half term, from July 2010 till December 2011.
The new faces comprise Vembarasan Vairakkannu, Tengku Ahmad Tengku Kasim, Ganabatirau Veraman, Mohd Ismahali Ridzwan Ismai, Puspha Lingham Sinnakanu, Mesni Mohd Dahlan, Yogasigamany Krishnasamy, Sarimah Lisut and Noraini Hussin.
The former MBSA councillors who were feted at the dinner were Datin Nor’ini Md Top, Adnan Jamburi, Sebastian Rao Pragasam, Uthayaasoorian Kalimuthu, Pappa Raidu Veraman, Sow Kim Ling and Zulkefli Mohd Nani.
In his speech, Shah Alam mayor Datuk Mazalan Md Noor thanked all the councillors for their contributions, views and constructive suggestions in driving MBSA to become a successful local authority in the state.
Mazalan said MBSA, as a service-oriented organisation, strived to foster a close collaboration with the councillors, who were proactive in providing ideas that help improve MBSA’s delivery system.
He urged the councillors to work closely with the local community by having more activities or community programmes like gotong-royong, dialogues, sports activities andtalks.
Mazalan also expressed hope that the councillors would work together as a team with MBSA’s administration and use the residents’ representative council as a platform to foster a close relationship with the local community.
Present at the dinner were Selangor state executive councillors Rodziah Ismail and Yaakob Sapari, Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad, Sri Muda assemblyman Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei, Shah Alam deputy mayor Mohtar Hani and MBSA department directors.
